Renaissance Festival 2011

http://www.ren-fest.com/deerfield-home.asp
Renaissance Festival

The international award-winning Florida Renaissance Festival held at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, welcomes students and educators to step back in time to learn about this fascinating period in history. Our school program will bring to life 16th Century Europe and is appropriate for all ages. Costumed performers, stage acts and crafts people will offer students an informative view of the Renaissance. So much fun and educational, we call it “Edutainment”!!

You may choose to bring lunch or purchase food and beverage on the Festival grounds. Please note: We collect monies for school days in advance to facilitate getting students inside the Festival grounds and immersed in the 16th century as quickly as possible. We do not use physical tickets for school days. A member of our staff will do a head count based upon your registration form. Please have a copy of your registration form with each vehicle. If you bring more students than initially registered, please plan on exact change (@ $7 each) to expedite processing. Your cooperation will assist us in creating a more rewarding experience for each and every student. Use the forms below to print out and send your registration.

It is suggested that your students bring spending money for games, rides and/or souvenirs. Lunch prices average $6.00, Drinks are $3.00. Games and rides average $1-$2 each and souvenirs start at $3. For example: $15 to $20 will buy lunch, a drink or two and leave them enough for a souvenir.
In response to your survey answers, we will be presenting even more educational presentations. Look

Project: Holiday Toy Drive - Fall 2010

DECA and Interact club members, sponsored by Mr. Pizzo arrived at Deerfield Park Elementary School on December 10th to visit with a group of 30 Head Start Pre-K students at Deerfield Park Elementary School for their annual holiday toy drive. Upon entering the classrooms, the clubs members were asked to partner with a young student. At first the elementary students were veryshy, but once the partnering was over the club members found a new best friend for the day. Ivanka Adams said “I enjoyed making friends with by buddy –LaKyla, she was so excited to  see me.”Jarvis Stokes, a senior was dressed up as Santa Clause in order to give out toys for the students, students sat on his lap and told Santa what they wanted for the holiday.

The students then opened their gifts in a frenzy, they were so excited. Ashley Wilkins said “Even the smallest gift made a huge impact, my buddy said to me that since he received two gifts, he was going to give on to his older brother.” Then everyone participated in arts and crafts activities (Creating snowmen and holiday stockings) and recreational events outdoors. Stephany Arce said, “All the children were so happy with what they received, I enjoyed spending time with them, it made me feel good inside.”

Overall this was an extraordinary event, club members once again proved it takes a “Community to raise a child” and was able to put some holiday joy in their lives. Glorimar Camacho, the DECA President said “One of the young students said to me I love you and wish you could come back tomorrow.” To learn more about the many yearly events   DECA and Interact participates in, please contact Mr. Pizzo at954-650-4903.

New cell phone scam - BEWARE!

Victim will receive a text message from a local area code stating -
"money was deposited in your account". When the victim replies to the
text (typically with... "who is this??") it creates an automatic
authorization for a $10+ messaging charge to be added to your cell phone
account EACH MONTH unless canceled. The suspects are likely overseas
and set up false organizations to receive and disperse funds. This type
of scam is very difficult to track.

DO NOT REPLY to these type text messages - even it's from a local area
code.

Check your billing carefully. This scam works similarly to authorizing
a donation via text message (like Red Cross or other legitimate
charities).
